Very rare and enigmatic French book. Not in Di Felice!!
"Le XXXIème CHAMPIONNAT de l’URSS". (Léningrad 24 Novembre - 25 Décembre 1963).
Paris?, LIBRAIRIE D'ECHECS GUISLE?, (1963)?. These data are almost certainly true, because if we compare this book with that of the 24th USSR Championship (Moscow 1957) sold in a previous auction of mine, inside they are almost identical (although the photos are no longer available): http://www.chesslund.com/detail.asp?id=20392 or with that of the 25th USSR Championship (Riga 1958) sold in another previous auction of mine (in this the photos are available): http://www.chesslund.com/detail.asp?id=29838. Original softback edition. Final Cross-table as front cover + 38 pages + 2 unnumbered pages (Index page and Cross-tables page). 27,8 x 21,6 cm. In French.
At my October auction I sold a copy (http://www.chesslund.com/detail.asp?id=35362) that had a different front cover, and the Final Crosstable was inside as an unnumbered page, in front of the page 1. This is a different variant, using the Crosstable as the cover, and it looks original. Probably these 2 variants existed. Another slight difference is that in the current auction variant the last 2 unnumbered pages (Index page and Cross-tables page) are orange.
Very good: No special flaws to mention. Inside without writings in a very good to excellent condition considering the type of paper.
Not in Di Felice!! EXTREMELY RARE!!
Very rare and enigmatic French book. It contains the 190 annotated games (compilation from various sources) of the 31th USSR Championship (Leningrad 1963), as well as the 6 games of the Triangular Playoff Tournament played by Stein, Spassky and Kholmov, with Stein achieving the final victory.
