Original group photo from the side tournament of the Czechoslovak Championship in Ostrava 1946.
Size: 13,2 x 8,3 cm.
The crosstable of this side tournament should be THIS (published in Ceskoslovensky sach 1946, page 103). I can only recognize Frantisek Pithart (first from the right) and Ladislav Alster (third from the right) in the photo.
Frantisek Pithart (1915-2003) was a Czech chess master, trainer, publicist and official and in the 1950s one of the leading Czech chess players. He participated in the Czechoslovak Chess Championships finals six times and twice (1955, 1965) won the bronze medal. He represented the national team of Czechoslovakia in the Chess Olympiad in Helsinki 1952 and in the European Team Chess Championship 1957 (bronze medal).
Ladislav Alster (1927-1991) was a Czech chess master, publicist and official and in the 1950s one of the leading Czech chess players. He participated in the Czechoslovak Chess Championships finals eleven times and in 1956 he became the Czechoslovakian champion. He was a member of the winning Czechoslovak team at the 1st Students World Championships in Oslo 1954 and represented the national team of Czechoslovakia in the Chess Olympiad in Moscow 1956.
Condition - Good: lower left corner a bit folded.
