BEAUTIFUL PUBLISHER'S BINDING!!

Berlin, Schachverlag Bernhard Kagan, 1925-(1927). Publisher's blue linen binding with gilt Title on front cover and spine and upper edge tinted yellow. 328 pages (the Title pages of each Lieferung are included in the pagination). 23,4 x 15,8 cm. In German.
Very good: Very slight defects in the binding, mainly the light scratches in the corners and spine, as well as 2 very light scratches on the front cover that are slightly visible. Light stains on the outer lateral edge that minimally affect the interior. On the upper edge of the front safeguard there is an ink annotation. On pages 87-88 there are a couple of stains. The numbers of the 7 sections of Chapter IV are underlined with a red pen, and the 3 subsections of 2 (2a, 2b and 2c) are surrounded with a circle of red pen, as well as a small annotation ("11a") in ink green on page 76. Pages 263-266 appear to have been loose and have been fixed. Otherwise a copy in very good to excellent condition.
In the upper outer corner of the Title Page a name stamp is visible: Rudolf Procházka. He was the Editor of the Chess column in Bratrstvi (appears since Dec 1923 to 1927), as well as Chairman of the Brno chess county. According to "Chess Personalia" (Jeremy Gaige) he was born on April 17, 1891 and died on December 2, 1944. After his death, on page 113 and part of page 114 a biographical review of Rudolf Procházka was published in the double number 10-11 of 1944 from the Magazine "Šach". His achievements as Brno County President include: Brno championship, the Stanislav Trčala memorial, the finals, matches against Prague, Vienna, Bratislava and other cities, and especially the three ÚJČŠ (Czechoslovak Chess Union) conventions in 1921, 1929 and 1944.

Aaron Nimzowitsch, Danish. - Latvian grandmaster and "chess revolutionary" (1886-1935) was one of the strongest players in the world from 1925 to 1930. The present work has been valued and sought after as a chess classic since it was published in 1925/27. The two books "My System" and "The Practice of My System" have had a lasting influence on the development of chess strategy.
