Title page + 448 pages (Index in pages 431-448) + 4 Portraits missing (Curt von Bardeleben, Louis Paulsen, J. H. Bauer and Rudolf J. Loman. On many occasions some are missing. Supplied in photocopies of photographic paper). 23,7 x 16,3. In German.
Fair to good: Binding very rubbed and worn, especially on the edges and corners. Spine very deteriorated with breaks and a small missing at the upper end, as well as in the entire lateral line of the spine on the back cover. Totally recommend a new binding, or at least the repair of the spine. Famous Ex-libris of the Italian collector Pellegrini inside the front cover. From the front safeguard are 7 pages of handwritten Index of Openings in beautiful handwriting. Practically all the game numbers with a light pencil mark, probably erasable (some are stronger than others). Pages 89-90 wrongly bound between pages 86-87. Page 220 with a slight trace of a liquid stain (perhaps water) on the outer lateral edge and with some pale red (or pink) spots. Light browning inside, with very little foxing, some light wrinkle, but in good condition (in some moments very good condition). I sincerely think that it is a copy in a good interior condition, that with a new binding it would become a good copy.

Auction 57 (June 2010). Lot 1507. Its Hammer Price was 140 EUR (including taxes 172,27 EUR). Loman's portrait is missing, and Title Page and 10 numbers (of 52) are photocopies.
Auction 61 (June 2012). Lot 1548. Its Hammer Price was 240 EUR (including taxes 295,32 EUR). The 4 Portraits are missing. Brown paper strip on inside cover. Browned on the inside due to the paper and occasionally stained. Binding bumped and with a broken handwritten label on spine.
Auction 67 (November 2014). Lot 1404. Its Hammer Price was 350 EUR (including taxes 430,68 EUR). Browned on the inside due to the paper and slightly stained. Binding bumped, somewhat stained and with repaired defects.
