DESCRIPTION

1835 "FUNFZIG AUSERLESENE SCHACHPARTIEN"

LONDON 1834 - De La Bourdonnais-MacDonnell

By W. Lewis (Author) & L. Bledow (translator)

Lewis, W. and Bledow, L.: "Funfzig auserlesene Schach-Partien", in dem Westminster-Schach-Klub zu London während des Sommers 1834 gespielt zwischen Herrn L. C. De La Bourdonnais, dem besten Schachspieler Frankreichs, und einem englischen Schachspieler ersten Ranges. Mit Anmerkungen herausgegeben von W. Lewis, Lehrer des Schachspiels und Verfasser mehrerer Werke über das Schach. Aus dem Englischen übersetzt von L. Bledow.

Berlin, G. Fincke, 1835. Private half linen binding with Author on spine. VI (including Title page) + 38 pages (last unnumbered). 17,9 x 11,5 cm. In German.

Fair: Binding slightly scuffed and worn, but in good condition. Former owner's signature on the front safeguard. The book is completely affected by traces of water stains, although the pages are in good condition and it is a reasonably pleasant copy in the hands.

L/N 5013; Di Felice 2484.2 (Chess Competitions 1824-1970). Not in Kieler Schachkatalog!!

RARE, VERY SCARCE AND VERY HARD TO FIND!!

In the following link https://books.google.es/books?id=Z69AAAAcAAJ&printsec=frontcover&hl=es&source=gbs_ViewAPI&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q&f=false, you can see another German Edition published in Leipzig without a year of publication, probably from the same year although later with total certainty, since on page VI of the Introduction Berlin appears and not Leipzig, with slight writing differences in Title and with Half Title Page.

According to DeLucia, on page 115 of "David DeLucia's Chess Library. A few Old Friends. Second Edition" it has a value of $500-$700.
