A Hungarian book about chess composition with many diagrams and chess problems, a list of chess problemists, etc.
Condition - Good: private half-cloth binding with lettering on spine and original front cover bound at the end. Stamps of previous owners Ilja Mikan and Josef Vladimir Stefanydes. On the last page there is a stamp with the date 2. V. 10 and a handwritten note in Czech probably by Stefanydes: “Darem od autora.” (a gift from the author)
Josef Vladimir Stefanydes (1872-1922) was a Czech chess player and a respected journalist. With Jan Kotrc, he co-edited the Czech chess magazine Ceske listy sachove (1896-1899), published Czech chess magazine Sachove listy (1900-1902) and ran many chess columns. He owned a very valuable chess library, which is now in the depository of the National Museum of the Czech Republic. The list of this collection is at this link.
