Very good: Only noteworthy are the visible defects on the covers, with some small stains and discoloration (browning) at the lower end and next to the spine and on itself. Blackened seal of famous Chess book store in the lower part of the inside of the front cover. Otherwise inside in very good to excellent condition.

In the 1st paragraph of the Preface the Author says the following: "Le Jardin des Échecs réunit, avec des corrections et compléments, les cinquante first chroniques d'échecs parues dans VU, Il contient 62 parties entières, 7 questions pratiques, 92 problèmes, 5 artistic studies." ("Le Jardin des Échecs brings together, with corrections and additions, the first fifty chess chronicles published in VU. It contains 62 full games, 7 practical questions, 92 problems, 5 artistic studies.")
