Jaenisch, C.F. de. (Karl A. Friedrich v.) Jaenisch's chess preceptor:

A new analysis of the openings of games ... Translated from the French, with notes, by George Walker. London, Longman, etc., 1847. XX, 291 pages. L/N 1793. Betts 13 - 1.

Originally published as "Analyse nouvelle ..." St. Petersburg 1842 - 43 in 2 vol. This translation in one volume contains an introduction, analysis in 4 sections, commentary, and with added notes by the translator. The author (1813 - 1872) was, along with Petroff, the best Russian player of his time. (Cf. Schmid p. 202 ff.) Above all, his knight defenses were famous. (Cf. Bilguer)

Condition: Paper slightly yellowed. Bound in modern red linen.
