Harrie Grondijs: Schaakvriend Jan Fischer (no. 16/150 signed)
A biography about Jean (Jan) Charles August Fischer [9.12 1909 - 1939] based mainly of material from the Selman Archive. 86 diagrams. Illustrated.
A few games by Fischer is saved and annotated. Fischer began composing in 1928. Fischer and John Selman started an intense correspondence in May 1938 but stopped when the WW2 began. When Fischer died in 1939 his widow was pregnant and J.C.A. Fischer jr was born in 1940.
Written and comp. by Harrie Grondijs. ed. by Rieneke van Zutphen, Rijswijk. Aix-la-Chapelle, 2007. Edition of 150 numbered and signed copies 352 p.: ill., diagr., portr.; 15 x 21 cm beige hardback with green print och cover and spine. Dustjacket.
