DESCRIPTION

"ШАХМАТЫ" 1894

COMPLETE RUN WITH ORIGINAL BINDING!!

By M. P. Fedorov

Fedorov, M. P. (Ed.): "Шахматы (Shahmaty)". 1894. Редактор: М. П. Федоров. Издатель: A. S. Суворин. All published, complete run.

Saint Petersburg, A. S. Суворин (Suworin), 1894. Beautiful publisher linen binding with a lovely design with nice prints on the front cover and blind printing on the back cover. 192 pages. Bound without covers. 24,8 x 17,8 cm. In Russian.

Fair to good: Binding in fair condition, with very light general soiling, heavy scuffing and wear to corners and edges, and traces of an erased stamp on the bottom of the front cover, as well as a stamp and annotation (slightly visible) on the top of the back cover. However, the binding is perfectly solid. Inside with some very light dirt. Page 1, as well as the inside of the front cover with some annotations or marks. The upper part (about 3 cm) of pages 1-2 has been cut off, but without affecting any text. About 50 stamps probably from a library, though light and barely obtrusive. Unknown signature in strong pencil at the top of pages 1 and 81 (1st of number 6). About the last quarter of the magazine is slightly dirtier, as from page 133 there are slight traces of a light pencil (or perhaps writing over it on tracing paper), more visible on pages 149, 155, 166- 167, 173 and 180-184. Inside in fair to good condition. The game Capablanca-Chajes, New York Rice 1916 is handwritten inside the back cover. Curiously, in ChessBase it appears as move 25.Rfb1, and in the handwritten note it appears 25.Rab1, although the correct one is that of ChessBase, since then in move 36 Capablanca plays Ra8, which would be impossible with 25.Rab1. Despite the numerous defects described, a volume in a more than decent condition.

L/N 6316; 257 Sakharov-2; Di Felice 2422.

A COMPLETE SET OF A EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND MAGAZINE IN GOOD GENERAL CONDITION WITH THE LOVELY PUBLISHER BINDING.
