Buenos Aires, self-published, 2000. Original glued softback edition. 626 pages (including Half Title page and Title page) + Index page. 24 x 17,2 cm. In Spanish.
Good to very good: Some slight wrinkles on the edges and more visible on the spine and in the lower outer corner of the front cover (slightly affecting the first few pages). Minuscule tear in the upper margin of the front cover near the spine. Very light soiling on the outer side of the pages, more visible at the top and bottom. Inside in very good condition.
The endgame studies of all 5 Volumes of Caputto's impressive masterpiece "The Art of the STUDY of Chess" are continuously numbered. Below you can see the numbering of each Volume:
Volume 1: endgame studies 1-437.
Volume 2: endgame studies 438-736.
Volume 3: endgame studies 737-2700.
Volume 4: endgame studies 2701-4283. Volume of this auction.
Volume 5: endagme studies 4284-5063.
Keep in mind that not all endgame studies have their corresponding chess diagram. The hardest to find are those without a chess diagram, at the beginning and end of each volume. Those that are among others are easier to locate, so below I will give a list of those that are at the beginning or at the end of the Volumes, to facilitate their location.
Volume 1: 435, 436 and 437 in the lower half of page 301.
Volume 2: 438 in the last 3 lines of page 18, corresponding to note 3, and 439 in the lower part of page 19, corresponding to note 2.
Volume 3: 737 at the bottom of page 25, corresponding to note 8, 738 at the bottom of page 29, corresponding to note 4, 739 in the middle of page 30, corresponding to note 5, and 740 at the bottom of page 38, corresponding to note 2.
Volume 4: 2701 in the last 2 lines of page 16 and the first 3 lines of page 17, corresponding to note 11, and the 2702, 2703 and 2704 on the bottom half of page 18.
Volume 5: 4284 to 4289 on pages 24-26, and the 4293 and 4294 on page 33 (although the diagrams for the 4290 to 4292 are on page 34), 5061 in the lower half of page 424 (corresponding to the correct solution of the 5060 diagram), and 5062 and 5063 in the upper half of page 431.
