"The Best in Chess" by I. Horowitz and J. Battell. Published in hardback by Hodder and Stoughton in 1966. First UK Edition. 412pp. The book is in Good Plus condition for its age. The binding is good (not "tight" as there is a little bit of give in it) and the book stands straight with no shelf lean or bowing present. The long page edge block has some tiny specks on it (dried liquid I'd guess, see scan) and is evenly tanned from age. Internally the book appears to be inscription/annotation and foxing free. The pages have tanned a little from age but they are all very clean. PLEASE NOTE: There is the suspicion that the book was formerly in a public library. This is due to the front endpaper being missing and the fact that the dustjacket is covered in a clear adhesive which was often used in libraries. However, there are no stamps or pouches or residue of either to clearly state one way or the other. The dustjacket is complete. Betts (43-21) states that this book is a "pot pourri of articles, games, problems, stories, etc from the magazine 'Chess Review' between the years 1935 and 1965". Further scanned images are available on request. Standard airmail postage (see An Post.com website for prices) based on book weight will be used unless the winning bidder requires signature on delivery or insurance, etc. Any questions, please just ask.
PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOW BASED IN THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND AND, THEREFORE, ALL SALES TO EUROPEAN DESTINATIONS (APART FROM GB) WILL BE IN EUROS AND SHIPPED DIRECT EU - EU (THUS AVOIDING ANY BREXIT POSTAL TAXES). CUSTOMERS IN THE GB AREA CAN STILL AVAIL OF SHIPPING DIRECT GB - GB AS I CAN SHIP FROM NORTHERN IRELAND, ALTHOUGH THERE WILL BE A SLIGHT DELAY IN POSTING. CUSTOMERS IN THE USA AND THE RoW WILL HAVE THEIR ORDER SHIPPED FROM THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND.
