"The Unknown Alekhine, 1905-14" by Fred Reinfeld. Published in hardback by Isaac Pitman in 1949. First Edition. 278pp. Betts 29-8. The book is in Very Good Plus condition for its age. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The boards are very clean and the gilt lettering on the spine is still strong. Internally the book is remarkably clean and looks largely unread. It is inscription, annotation and foxing free. The page edge blocks are very clean although the top edge is a little dusty. The dustjacket is in Good Minus condition. It has had a couple of small areas camouflage repaired with a similar coloured paper being neatly affixed at the head of the spine and at the top of the front panel (see scans). There is also a long, closed tear to note across the front panel. The dustjacket is now protected by a removable see-through sleeve. Games are in English descriptive notation. According to Betts none of the 102 annotated games given in this book is duplicated in Alekhine's own volume for the years 1908-23. Further scanned images are available on request. Standard airmail postage (see An Post.com website for prices) based on book weight will be used unless the winning bidder requires signature on delivery or insurance, etc. Any questions, please just ask.
