"Gambits Accepted" by L.Elliott Fletcher. Published in hardback by RKP in 1954. 254pp. First Edition. Betts 13-160. The book is in Good condition for its age. The binding is tight although there is very mild bowing evident to the boards (which, of course, is largely obscured by the presence of the dustjacket) and the book has a notable shelf lean. The gilt lettering on the spine has faded but is still readable. The page edge blocks are clean but they exhibit a slight wavy pattern (see scan) so my guess is that this book was, years ago, stored in a damp environment. Internally there is a gift prize sticker on the front endpaper and a very small previous owner's sticker on the front pastedown. The remainder of the book is very clean and is inscription, annotation and foxing free. Indeed, internally the book looks largely unread. The dustjacket is in Good condition. There is slight loss at the head of the spine plus a couple of short, closed tears to note. The spine has browned over the years and the top edge of the front panel has crumpling. This same area has a rippled effect to the left of the author's name. See scans. Analysis is given in English descriptive notation. Further scanned images are available on request.
