"The British Chess Magazine, 1889" edited by Robert Green. Published in hardback by Trubner & Co. in 1889. First Edition. 496pp. Betts 7-27. Includes index. Volume 9. The volume is in Good overall condition for its age (134 years old!). The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The (privately bound brown) boards are reasonably clean. The spine area gilt lettering is still readable, although faded. The spine tips are worn and bent inwards. The outer (brown) fabric of the board is cracked along the length of the spine on one side but is not loose. The page edge blocks are heavily tanned from age and handling. Internally the volume is in Good condition. It appears to be inscription, annotation and foxing free. The pages are semi-glossy to the touch but it is obvious that this volume has been quite well read over the years as several pages have mild evidence of handling. The front and rear pastedowns and endpapers have discolouration. A sought after early BCM volume. Games are given in English descriptive notation. Published without a dustjacket. Further scanned images are available on request. Standard airmail postage (see An Post.com website for prices) based on book weight will be used unless the winning bidder requires signature on delivery or insurance, etc. Any questions, please just ask.
