"The British Chess Magazine, 1919" edited by Isaac Brown. Published by Trubner & Co in 1919. First Edition. 444pp. Betts 7-27. Includes index. Volume 39. The volume is in Good overall condition for its age. The binding is good (not "tight" as there is a fair amount of movement to the spine) and there is no bowing present. The volume exhibits a mild shelf lean. The (privately bound brown) boards are clean and the gilt lettering on the spine is still strong. The ends of the spine have bent inwards (see scans). The page edge blocks are reasonably clean although tanned from age. Internally the volume is in Good clean condition. It is inscription, annotation and foxing free. The pages are semi-glossy to the touch. There is the very occasional speck stain or small smudge mark but these are less than commensurate with age. Several magazine pages have a vertical crease, presumably from having been in the post, back in the day. A sought after BCM volume due to a low print run. Games are given in English descriptive notation. Published without a dustjacket. Further scanned images are available on request.
