Groningen 1946 was the first major international chess tournament to be held after WW2. The book contains all 190 games with annotations, tables etc. The winner was Botvinnik ahead of Euwe and Smyslov.
On the half-title page there is a handwritten dedication by Hans Kmoch to Karel Opocensky dated 5 June 1947.
Johann "Hans" Joseph Kmoch (July 25, 1894 – February 13, 1973) was an Austrian-Dutch-American chess player, International Master, International Arbiter, chess journalist and author.
Karel Opocensky (February 7, 1892 - 16 November, 1975) - was legendary Czech International Master and four-time national champion (1927, 1928, 1938, and 1944). He played four times at the Chess Olympiads and won individual gold (11,5/13) and team silver medals in Folkestone 1933 and team bronze in Prague 1931. Opocensky was also a chess publicist and is the author or co-author of several chess books.
Condition - Good: binding a bit worn, corners bumped, label on inside front cover, a few pages slightly stained.
