Traces the early history of the game, dealing with Chaturanga and Shatranj, their oriental variations, and the medieval game in Arabia and Europe. (Betts). The author was a professor of Oriental languages in King’s College in London.
A very rare publication.
Condition - Good: binding a bit worn and stained, handwritten numbers on inside front cover and title page, a few stamps.
