Madrid, El Ajedrez Español, 1934-1936. Private quarter leather binding with gold title and raised bands in spine. TOMO I (including 1st and 2nd Years 1934-1935 with numbers 1-16): publisher Sheet of 1st Volumen (Tomo I) (supplied in loose double-sided photocopy. Practically always missing. I only saw it once) + 512 pages (about thirty!! pages and photo sheets are not included in the pagination. Pages 437-438 and 449-450 of TOMO I are the only 2 photographic sheets that are included in the pagination although they are unnumbered. Can be checked at the following link: https://mega.nz/folder/gIVmjDzb#j5c0M2h1Fd -Rz66A1YwPUw) + VIII Index pages (between pages 498-499) + TOMO II (including 3rd Year 1936 with numbers 17-23): 232 pages (the first photographic sheets from 1936 up to page 55 are not included in the pagination, but the following ones are). Printing on very good quality paper, similar to glossy paper. Bound without covers. 24 x 17,5 cm. In Spanish.

Regarding the name of the 1st Volume (TOMO I) and the years, the magazine itself causes confusion (although the pagination is very clear), since the 1st Volume includes numbers 1-16, and from 17 they belong to the 2nd Volume, unfinished due to the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. Numbers 1-4 (September-December 1934) appear as Year I, numbers 5-16 (January 1935 to December 1936) appear as Year II, and numbers 17-23 (January-July 1936) belong to Year III, although numbers 19-23 appear erroneously due to a typographical error as from Year II. Only numbers 17-18 (January-February 1936) appear correctly as from Year III.

Very good to excellent: Slight and normal defects on the covers and on the spine, with light rubbing on the spine. Inside without writings, and very few pages with very slight foxing and minor defects. Otherwise, inside in excellent condition. The last 2 photos are from the Publisher Sheet of the copy auctioned in one of my previous auctions.

After an exhaustive check, it must be noted that 8 photographic sheets are missing (approximately a 6th of the nearly 45-50 in this copy), which should go after pages 128, 144, 304, 320, 336, 352, 368 and 384 of TOMO I, although they will be inserted in photocopies on photographic paper. The 8 missing photographic sheets are the following: after page 128 that of "El Marqués de Casa Alta", after page 144 that of "El Ajedrez en Alcoy", after page 304 that of "Valentín Marín", after page 320 the of the "Match Telefónico Madrid-Barcelona", after 336 that of "Flohr", after 352 that of the "Banquete...del Torneo Nacional", after 368 that of "Manuel Fernández Valbuena" and after 384 that of "Grupo de participantes del Torneo Nacional".

IMPORTANT!! Please keep in mind that of the 90 photos in the current auction, 61 are archival, including the 8 missing photographic sheets.
