A Game at Chess. A lithographic print published by Thomas McLean, July 31st, 1832.
Size 39 x 29cm. Some very light foxing otherwise in very good condition. The artist is H.B., the pen name for John Doyle, a well known Irish political cartoonist and painter. This drawing depicts a game between Earl Grey and King William IV. Earl Grey was Prime Minister at the time and is saying “I check the King”, to which Wiliiam IV replies “I don’t know how to move, the Game is yours.”
