With many diagrams. 2 ll., XCII, 480 pages, 2 ll. L/N 5194. van der Linde II, 87 f. The winner of the 1st international tournament in Paris was the Austrian chess champion Ignaz v. Kolisch ahead of Simon Winawer and Steinitz. In the main tournament, Czarnowski won ahead of Jean Preti. The winner of the problem tournament was Conrad Bayer ahead of Samuel Loyd. There were several competitions: Neumann - Golmayo (3:0), Neumann - Winawer (3:0); Löwenthal - Arnous de Riviere, Czarnowski - Preti (3 : 1). Furthermore, 2 blindfold games were played by G. Neumann and Arnous de Rivière against some consulting ladies (including the Princess Murat, the Duchess de la Trémoille). The women won both games. This was the first public women's chess in France.

Condition: Private binding. Inside some foxing. Some wear. Corners bumped.
