DESCRIPTION

FISCHER v SPASSKY MATCH 1972. The Micro-0035 Viewer. Microfilm on two connecting spools and in a plastic case. Contains the full scores of the 21 game match with some notes by Isaac Kashdan which can be viewed against a light background. Produced by H. Owens Co., Culver City, California.

The first of a number of planned “chess cassettes”.  With a small printed brochure. Size approx. 9 x 7 x 5cm. This plastic cassette viewer was posted in a small cardboard box to B.H.Wood, Chess Sutton Coldfield, postmarked March 1976.

I believe the idea was to see if B.H.Wood could be persuaded to sell this item via his Chess magazine. However I don’t believe the film Viewer was ever offered for sale in Britain as it is hard to see the advantage of it. However it is nevertheless an interesting and very rare item connected with the Fischer v Spassky match.
