Eight random issues of "The Social Chess Quarterly" magazine. Published in softback by A. Firth, W. Winter and V. Menchik in 1930-34. First Edition. Betts 7-71. The magazines are in Fair Plus overall condition for their age. They consist of Numbers 1 (Oct 1930), 2 (Jan 1931), 3 (Apr 1931), 4 (Jul 1931), 10 (Jan 1933), 11 (Apr 1933), 13 (Oct 1933) and 15 (Apr 1934). The cover of Issue 1 is hanging on to one staple only. The cover of Issue 2 is detached. The remaining 6 issues all have their covers stapled on. Some of the magazines have red ink initials on their front cover (see scans). I found only a couple of penned annotations inside the magazines, as generally the pages are clean, if a little worn from age and handling. The staples have rusted but not bled too badly (see scan). Each magazine has around 26pp. Games are given in English descriptive notation. This magazine ran for only 23 issues before being absorbed into 'CHESS, Sutton Coldfield' in July 1936. Rare. Fragile.
