DESCRIPTION

"VII VSESOYUZNYJ SHAKHMATNYJ TURNIR"

BOOK OF THE 7th U.S.S.R. CHAMPIONSHIP

By Botvinnik, Vajnshtejn, and Nenarokov (Leningrad and Moscow 1933)

RARE, VERY SCARCE, AND VERY HARD TO FIND

Botvinnik, M. M., Vajnshtejn, S. O., and Nenarokov, V. I.: "VII VSESOYUZNYJ SHAKHMATNYJ TURNIR" (MOSKVA 1931 g.). SBORNIK PARTIJ.

Leningrad and Moscow, OGIZ - Fizkultura i Turizm, 1933. Original softback edition. 563 pages. 20,2 x 13,3 cm. In Russian.

Fair to good: Binding slightly slanted and very worn, especially at the edges and spine, with small tears, and small missing parts, most visible at the lower outer corner of the front cover (also affecting the first few pages, though without loss of text) and the spine ends, with a 4 cm. missing part at the top of the spine. Light water staining affecting the top edge of the pages (perhaps also the bottom) but only visible on 100-200 pages at most, as on pages 272-288, 447-496, 512-514 and 527-534. Slight craking between pages 130-131, although the book is bound together. Inside without writings, with only some occasional spot of dust. Paper browned as common for that book. Some small wrinkles and small spots on some pages. I honestly think the book is in relatively good condition, although it would be a good idea to rebind it.

Sakharov-2 985; L/N 5446; Di Felice 1382.2 (Chess Competitions 1824-1970).

The first book published on one Final of the Chess Championship of the Soviet Union. Without a doubt, the most important book on the beginnings of the chess in the Soviet Union, with all the classification tables for all its tournaments: Absolute, Women, Teams, and so on. An enormous amount of information with an incalculable value for the birth and development of chess in the Soviet Union in the early twentieth century. All the games analyzed by the participants: all 153 games of the Final and 90 games from the Semi-Finals. Large number of photos and cartoons. EXCELLENT, GREAT AND IMPRESSIVE WORK!!! SPECTACULAR BOOK!!!

From this website you can see the external condition of the copy that I am currently auctioning, and get a very rough idea of the interior condition of the current copy. A long time ago, on March 2, 2014, I sold another copy. Although the photos are not of current quality, they are enough to show us the excellent content of the book. You can see 63 photos to evaluate the photographic content contained in the book, and although the quality is low (typical in chess publications from the former Yugoslavia) the content is impressive, in the following link: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AsV5dlwXFfTPgesGtWqfN7XAavrAcg?e=6f9kv5
