Very good: Slight overall browning, most visible on the covers and Title Page. Stain at bottom of pages 38-40. Very slightly rusty staples. Otherwise in very good condition.

Not in L/N!! Di Felice 1087.1 (Chess Competitions 1824-1970).

In the following link, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Chess_Championship, this Championship appears as the 6th of Western zone championships. The truth is that all the information on the Internet is quite confusing, and finally it seems that the best source is the Program of this auction itself.

Di Felice mentions (perhaps based on another source) that it is the 4th German Democratic Republic Championship, which seems incorrect. At the following link, https://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessplayer?pid=11236, you can read: "Unzicker also won the unique East and West German Championship in 1953." And indeed it seems to be correct, because despite my lack of German, I think that in the Introduction he talks about the subject. Furthermore, the Tournament was organized by the Chess Sections of both Germanys, and the best players from both Germanys played.

Therefore, it is practically certain that this Tournament has a very important historical importance, since it was the 1st and only joint Championship of both Germanys. The way in which the information appears on the Title Page can be confusing, since we could understand that the 1st Team Championship and the 2nd Individual Championship are held, although in reality it only informs that the Championship consists of 2 sections: the Team Section and the Individual.

Below is a link to each of the 2 Teams:
