DESCRIPTION

(Dobrusky, Jan). Historicky podklad a vysvetleni ku klani sachovemu V. Sletu vsesokolskeho na cvicisti sletovem Na Letne ve dnech 9., 16., 23.cervna a 1. cervence 1907. Praha, Vybor V. Sletu vsesokolskeho, 1907. In Czech. 8 pages. Original paperback. Not in LN. Not in Soukup. Mokry 200.

Translation of the title: Historical background and explanation to the chess competition of the 5th All-Sokol meeting at the training ground at Letna on June 9, 16, 23 and July 1, 1907.

Explanation and commentary on the game played with live pieces during the Sokol meeting in Prague - Letna in June and July 1907. The game represented a battle between Zizka's Hussite army and the army of Emperor Sigismund and ended with the victory of Zizka's army in the 32nd move.

The game was created by Jan Dobrusky (1853-1907), who, however, did not live to see it performed, as he died suddenly in the courtroom in Prague on 31 May 1907. Jan Dobrusky, a lawyer by profession, was a leading figure in Czech chess life. He was a strong practical player, but he was especially famous as a problemist and as one of the founders of the Czech Problem School.

As usual, this kind of chess publication is very rare and hardly appears on the market. One of the reasons for this is that people rarely kept these leaflet and program type publications.

Condition - Fair: folded in half, strong stains on the first and last page, pages 1-2 are slightly torn in half, tears on the edges.
