Yukhym (Efim) Lazarev (1933 – 2013 ) is Soviet/Ukrainian chess player and chess writer, master of sports of the USSR (1960). Chess columnist of the newspaper Molod’ Ukrajiny, Radyansky Sport and Sportyvna Gazeta. The author of a famous book on history of chess in Ukraine – “Творчість шахістів України” (Chess legacy and selected games ukrainian chessplayers) 1982.
Everyone knows the book from the “Black Series” Gufeld/Lazarev. Leonid Stein. Moskva, FiS, 1980 (I am also offering it in this auction). But the first book about Stein was this one, written by Lazarev in 1978 in Kyiv.
Small book with life and chess biography. 10 annotated games, 10 combination and about 15 miniatures by Stein.
