1941 "AJEDREZ CUBANO"
VERY RARE AND SCARCE CAPABLANCA-RELATED BOOK AND INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND

La Habana, Centro Superior Tecnológico del I.C.M., 1941. Private cloth binding without prints, with publishers original softback (in glossy paper) preserved within. 79 pages (including Half Title page and Title page and 21 photos + photo of original front cover). 23,2 x 16,1 cm. In Spanish.
Good to very good: Binding in excellent condition. Remains of water stain in the 2 upper corners of the original softcover book, slightly affecting the first 12 pages and the original front cover with the photo of Capablanca. Few more defects to note, except for some slight wrinkles and little else. Exlibris of C. M. Bijl.
L/N 318; not in Kieler Schachkatalog.
Memories of an event in which Capablanca had to play a 6-game match against the Champion of the Tournament organized by the Cuban Chess Federation, to designate the contender who had to face Capablanca with the advantage of pawn and move. Finally there was a triple tie between Blanco, Romero and Fernández León. Given this situation, Capablanca agreed to play 2 games against each of them. The book offers an extensive chronicle of such a unique event, with 21 photographs of the different participants (players, organizers, etc.), of the 6 games, which are present in the book, and the awards ceremony. Likewise, on pages 65-68 there is a chronicle of the Timed Simultaneous against 8 Boards that Capablanca played, in which the 2 games that managed to draw against the great Cuban genius are present.
