Dedication and signature on the Title Page of the Marquis of Castell-Florite, Joaquín Buxó de Abaigar, who at that time was the President of the Provincial Council of Barcelona, and who wrote the Colophon. The book is accompanied by a signed official letter (dated November 16, 1963), addressed to César Utrilla Carrasco, from the Private Secretary of the President of the Provincial Council of Barcelona, Antonio Navarro Ledó, in which he explains that he is sending him a copy of the book signed by the Marquis of Castell-Florite. Curiously, the Marquis, in his dedication, made a mistake when writing the date, since he put 1962, something logically impossible.
Very good: The only thing worth highlighting is the slight wear on the covers and the foxing present on them, most visible on the back cover and on the outer edge of the pages. Otherwise in very good condition, inside perhaps excellent.
History of the Provincial Chess Festival, whose 1st Edition was in 1954, and due to the efforts of the Marquis of Castell-Florite in supporting Chess, the "Marquis of Castell-Florite Trophy" was established to reward the game that deserved it with the Beauty Award. There is a chronicle of each Year of the Provincial Chess Festival, from 1954 to 1962, which includes the game awarded with the Beauty Prize of each year, so in the book there are 9 commented games, corresponding to those Beauty Prizes. In total there are 11 games if we add the 2 analyzed on pages 12-13 (Anderssen-Dufresne, Breslau 1852 and Lafanov-Bogatyrchuk, Moscow 1940). At the end there is a Sports Report of the Catalan Chess Federation, including a list of the Catalan Champions, Masters Titles to Catalan players and performance of the Catalan teams. Without a doubt, a very special book due to its theme, a true beauty and jewel in any Chess Library.
