DESCRIPTION

Alexei Selezniev (1888-1967)

detailed two-volume biography

with 100+ annotated games and 108 endgame studies

circulation only 50 copies

Shvadchenko, G. F.: Zagadochnyy master 1-2.

Tambov, self-edition, 2023. Paperbacks. Third edition. Photos in text, 204 + 180 pages. Large size ca 29 cm. The weight 1,030 grams. Published 50 copies.

Very good: light signs of use, no flaws. Text is clean with no writings.

Life and chess biography of master Alexey Selezniev (Selesnieff, Seleznev), 1888-1967. Selezniev was one of the chess players who were interned in Germany after the unfinished Mannheim 1914 tournament - along with Alekhine, Bogoljubov and others. He was a close friend of world champions Alexander Alekhine and Emanuel Lasker, as well as Aljechin's older brother Alexey and GM Bogoljubov.

Nevertheless - or perhaps because of this - he has been erased from Soviet chess history. The book explains the reasons why this happened. The author has managed to find many interesting facts from the Selezniev's biography. Published in a limited edition of 50 copies.

These two volumes include:

  • very detailed biography of master Selezniev
  • 100+ of his well annotated games
  • 108 of his endgame studies with annotated solutions
  • many photos (some of which are of lower quality) and illustrations
  • ca 50 crosstables etc

The book was published at the author's expense and does not appear in the offer of Russian chess eshops.
