"CHESS, Sutton Coldfield. Volume 6". Privately bound in a blue-coloured hardback. All twelve magazines for Volume 6 (Oct 1940 - Sept 1941, Magazine Numbers 61 to 72, inclusive). 192pp. No index. The volume is in Good condition, for its age. The binding is good (not "tight" as there is a deal of movement to the spine) and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The covers are clean although the boards have damage to tips and spine ends plus a couple of white speck stains (see scans). The gilt lettering on the spine has faded but is still readable. The top and side edge blocks are speckled with light-coloured foxing but there is no foxing in the volume interior. Internally the volume is very clean and appears to be inscription and annotation free although there are two stamps on the front endpaper and two more on the rear pastedown (see scans). The quality of paper - despite WW2 being ongoing - was remarkably good and the magazine pages are glossy to the touch. Several magazines have very mild page creases, presumably caused by handling. The magazines do NOT exhibit the often seen vertical crease from having been in the post, back in the day. Magazine covers are bound in. NOTE: The volume has a strong musty odour from poor storage in the past. Games are in English descriptive notation. Further scanned images are available on request. Standard airmail postage (see An Post.com website for prices) based on book weight will be used unless the winning bidder requires signature on delivery or insurance, etc. Any questions, please just ask.
