A double volume (24 magazines) of the "British Chess Magazine" for the years 1898 and 1899. Published by Trubner & Co. Vols 18 and 19. First Editions. Recently rebound in maroon cloth with gilt lettering on the spine. 528pp + 528pp. Betts 7-27. Index for the year 1898 only. No title pages or magazine covers. The boards are extremely clean and bright. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The page edge blocks are strongly tanned from age and handling. Internally the vast majority of the 1000+ pages are clean and presentable with just age-related discolouration to note (particularly around the edges). The exception to the above are the first and last few pages which have strong damage to their extremities (see scans). The damaged pages quickly peter out and total only around 30pp in the whole volume. One plate is loosely laid in but all the other pages appear to be very securely bound in. I would grade the volume as being in Good Plus overall condition for its age. Further scanned images are available on request. Games are given in English descriptive notation. Standard airmail postage (see An Post.com website for prices) based on book weight (1.82kg, unpackaged) will be used unless the winning bidder requires signature on delivery or insurance, etc. Any questions, please just ask.
