A double volume (24 magazines) of the "British Chess Magazine" for the years 1896 and 1897. Published by Trubner & Co. Vols 16 and 17. First Editions. Recently rebound in maroon cloth with gilt lettering on the spine. 496pp + 488pp. Betts 7-27. Index for the year 1896 only (with some dried liquid staining, see scan). No title pages or magazine covers. The boards are extremely clean and bright. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean or bowing present. The page edge blocks are strongly tanned from age and handling. Internally the vast majority of the nearly 1000 pages are very clean and presentable with no apparent annotations or inscriptions. The internal pages have age-related discolouration (particularly around the edges) but this is only to be expected in a volume of this age. I would grade the volume overall as being in Very Good overall condition for its age. Further scanned images are available on request. Games are given in English descriptive notation. Standard airmail postage (see An Post.com website for prices) based on book weight (1.67kg, unpackaged) will be used unless the winning bidder requires signature on delivery or insurance, etc. Any questions, please just ask.
