Marshall, Frank James. Modern Analysis of the Chess Openings. Amsterdam, Vrolijk, (1912). In English. 82 pages. 3 text illustrations. Descriptive notation. LN 1915; Betts 14 - 7. Original grey cloth binding with lettering on front cover.

"The author analyses some of his favourite lines in answer to 1. P-K4. The basic defence recommended is the Petroff, with additional analysis of the lines by which white avoids the Petroff (Three Knights' Game, Max Lange, and others)." (Betts)

With a handwritten dedication to the Prague Marshall Chess Club by an American chess legend on the back of the front cover.

“To Marshall Chess Club. Best wishes from Frank J. Marshall. February 15th 1928. New York. N. Y.” 

Condition - Good: cover slightly worn and soiled, frontispiece a little torn in the upper part, stamps of Chess Club Marshall in Prague (“Marshall” šachový klub čsl. železničářů Praha), sticker on title page.
