Lange, Max. Paul Morphy. Sein Leben und Schaffen. 3rd edition. Leipzig, Veit, 1894. XIV, 1 leaf, 416 pages (portrait plate missing). In German. LN 3091.

 

3rd greatly enlarged edition containing almost four hundred games by Morphy.

 

Signed by Jan Dobrusky on the title page. Dr. Jan Dobrusky (1853-1907), a lawyer by profession, was a leading figure in Czech chess life. He was a strong practical player, but he was especially famous as a problemist and as one of the founders of the Czech Problem School. He died suddenly in the courtroom in Prague on 31 May 1907.

 

Condition - Fair to Good: new elegant private half-cloth binding with gilt on spine, stamps on title page, several pages straightened with tape, inside occasionally soiled and stained with a few marks and notes.
