DESCRIPTION

Vasta, Jan. Zlaty prut. Vybor sachovych uloh. Miroslav Soukup, Praha 1942. In Czech. Frontispiece with photo of Jan Vasta, title page, 2 leaves, 57 pages, 1 leaf. No. 46 of 100 copies. Series Sachove umeni no 9. LN 2856, Soukup 119, Mokry 85. Original blue half linen binding with gilt print on front cover and spine.

Contains autobiographical foreword and 100 problems by Czech chess composer Jan Vasta, (1885 - 1968), mostly 3-movers.

This book appears in two versions - hardcover and softcover. Both versions were probably published in 50 copies.

With handwritten dedication by Miroslav Soukup in Russian on the endpaper dated 12.3.1946 (“Long live the friendship of Soviet and Russian chess composers.”) With a rare signature of Miroslav Soukup in Cyrillic.

Condition - Fair to Very Good: the book is generally in very good condition, but its main flaw is the numerous handwritten notes (solutions) in Russian next to most of the diagrams - see photos.
