A reprint of "Chess for winter evenings" 1848. The original steel engravings show pretty chess game scenes and illustrate four chess stories translated from the French chess newspaper "La Palamède".
Condition: Private embossed stamp on endpaper and title. Interior browned and occasionally stained, a few pages with defects. Pagination at the beginning jumps or begins with page 9. Spine renewed. Cover slightly dusty and bumped.
