Berlin, Theodor Christ. Friedr. Enslin, 1823. Private half cloth marbled binding, with Title on a handwritten label on the spine. Chess board's frontispiece + 16 unnumbered pages (including Title page) + 222 pages + Berichtigung sheet (Corrections). 16,3 x 10,5 cm. In German.

Very good: Binding slightly scuffed at the edges and most visible near the spine in the upper inside corner of the front cover. Outside edge of pages tinted in a mottled red color. Some slight annotation inside the front and front cover, and on the back of the Correction sheet. Very light foxing on the inside, and something more visible only on a few initial and final pages. The Correction sheet, due to the binding, has the first "column" hidden next to the spine, covering a number (or 2) in each line, which are quite difficult to see against the light. I honestly think that for its age, the book inside is in very good condition.

In all the Klittich auctions that I know (43rd-November 2003 to 48th-June 2006, and 54th-November 2008 to 79th-November 2020), in all the auctioned copies, both of the first and second editions, the Correction sheet (Berichtigung) was missing.
