Karel Opocensky, 1892-1975, was one of leading persons in Czechoslovak chess life for about 50 years. First Czech chess profi player (Master of UJCS since 1913), he took part on 4 olympiads (in Folkestone 1933 he won individual gold with score +10-0=3), international arbiter (world championship matches 1951 and 1954), and well known chess journalist and writer.

This is the first biographical book on Karel Opocensky with detailed biography, 30 games annotated by Vlastimil Hort, several original articles (Kavalek, Houska, Matocha etc), all accompanied with many often early unpublished photos.
