DESCRIPTION

Trencanske Teplice 1949

Richard Reti Memorial tournament

 

Louma, Josef and others: Trencanske Teplice 1949. Praha, Prace, 1951. Orig. boards (spine cloth), missing dust jacket.  304 pages + 8 plates with 15 photos. 21 cm. In Czech. LN 5785. 490 grams. Book code 1986.

Condition: Good: some general signs of use, no major flaws. Dust jacket is missing.

Tournament book of the strong Reti Memorial international tournament. Played in spa town Trencanske Teplice (todays Slovakia) - what is not far from Pezinok (Richard Reti's birthplace).

20 players round robin, all 190 games are present, almost all of them are annotated by Louma, Kottnauer, Pachman and other masters. The winner was Stahlberg (14 of 19) ahead of Pachman, Szabo, Bolbochan, Rossolimo, Foltys, O'Kelly, Prins etc.

The book includes some articles on history of previous tournaments in Trencanske Teplice, short Richard Reti's biography and results of the Endgame study tourney with 11 awarded studies (won by Halberstadt). Opening survey and game register in the end.
