Many diagrams. VIII, 540 pages, 1 leaf. L/N 714; v. d. Linde II, 16. Bilguers "Handbuch des Schachspiels" was so famous for a long time that it was simply called "the Bilguer". Until 1922 eight editions and one reprint were published. "It has become ... the most important theoretical work of the whole chess literature."(v. d. Linde II, 15).
Condition: Publishers original binding. Corners and spine are re-inforced with black tape. Bookblock re-inforced inside to cover with white tape. Slight foxing. Handwritten library code on spine in white ink. 3 handwritten notes in Löwentals own hand are attached to inner front cover. Transsciption of text: see scan.
