THERE ARE 3 VERY RARE ITEMS, BOUND WITHIN:

 

1- The INCOMPLETE!!!! book about 50th ANNUAL UNITED STATES OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP (OMAHA 1949). Originally 44 pages, which are only present 20 (MISSING PAGES 1-16, 25-28, AND 37-40) published and distributed in the following way: 1-16 (double number 7-8 of 1949), 17-24 (between pages 38-39 of double number 10-11 of 1949), 25-28 (I think between pages 42-43 of number 12 of 1949), 29-32 (between pages 2-3 of number 1 of 1950), 33-36 (between pages 6-7 of number 2 of 1950), 37-40 (probably between pages 12-13 of double number 3-4 of 1950), and 41-44 (between pages 18-19 of number 5 of 1950). Later, these same 44 pages were published as a book in a limited and numbered edition of 250 copies (spiral binding), with the title "50th United States Chess Championship. Omaha 1949", written by Jack Spence.

 

2- A small article, "THE KING'S OWN OR THE TUMBLEWEED", of R. E. Weare, on a poem, "A CHANCE ACQUAINTANCE", by an unknown author, composed about 1909, given to him by Dr. J. N. Campbell. Them is the complete poem. 4 unnumbered pages, between pages 30-31 of Supplement "50th United States Chess Championship. 3- One of the famous catalogues of Buschke, "A. BUSCHKE Chess Literature. CHESS TOURNAMENTS. CHESS MATCHES. SPRING 1950"4 unnumbered pages, between pages 34-35 of Supplement "50th United States Chess Championship. Omaha 1949".

 

Very good to excellent: Only minor defects. Binding with slight rubbing on the edges and corners, as well as some slight stain, more visible on the back cover and on the spine. Some very slight wrinkle. Inside without writings, in almost new condition, with only some slight stain and wrinkle in the top of the page 63 of the number 9 of 1947, a slight ink annotation (green??) at the bottom edge of the page 7 of the double number 1-2 of 1955, and a circle and a question on page 5 of the double 1-2 number of 1957.

 

SPECTACULAR MAGAZINE (BULLETIN/NEWSLETTER) ON THE HISTORY OF CHESS IN THE UNITED STATES, AND ESPECIALLY IN NEBRASKA, WITH A HUGE AMOUNT OF PHOTOGRAPHS AND REFERENCES OF A HUGE AMOUNT OF LOCAL TOURNAMENTS, MANY OF THEM NOT AVAILABLE IN DATA BASES OF CHESSBASE, NOR IN THE BOOKS OF GINO DI FELICE!!!

 

AN IMPORTANT SECTION ARE CHAPTERS DEDICATED TO ALFRED C. LUDWIG ("MR.
