Lubomir Kavalek (1943–2021) was a Czech-American grandmaster. He won two Czechoslovak and three U.S. Championships, and in 1974 was ranked world no. 10. Kavalek was also a coach, organizer, teacher, commentator, author, and award-winning columnist.
