Press wirephoto (AP Laserphoto) capturing the start of the final game of the World Chess Championship match between Karpov and Kasparov in Moscow on November 9, 1985. Kasparov won this game and, at the age of 22, became the 13th World Champion. Dimensions: 25.4 x 21.2 cm.
AP Laserphoto was a system used by the news agency Associated Press to transmit photographs electronically to newspapers and newsrooms. Using telephoto technology, images could be sent over telephone lines and reproduced at the receiving office within minutes. Photographs marked “AP Laserphoto” were typically distributed to newspapers for immediate publication.
Condition - Good: On the integrated caption above the image, the name "Garri Kasparov" is circled in blue ink. There is also a small incidental ink mark in the center of the text area, likely made during the marking of the name. The reverse side features an archival stamp from the M.G.N. Divisional Library (Mirror Group Newspapers), Reserve Section, documenting its provenance from a major British press archive.
