Description

Original blank scoresheet with one pink carbonless copy from the memorable tournament held in Prague in 1990. Dimensions: 29.8 x 21.1 cm.

Prague 1990 was the first international chess tournament hosted in Czechoslovakia following the fall of communism, organized as a tribute to democracy. Initiated by Lubomir Kavalek and supported by the Grandmasters Association (GMA) and its chairman Bessel Kok, the event was held from August 27 to September 2, 1990, at the Hotel Intercontinental in Prague. It took place under the auspices of President Vaclav Havel, who famously played a game against Bessel Kok during the opening ceremony.

The stellar lineup featured Jan Timman, Nigel Short, Vlastimil Hort, Lubomir Kavalek, Jan Smejkal, and Lubomir Ftacnik, with Vlastimil Jansa serving as the main commentator. The tournament also coincided with a GMA meeting, during which several prominent members—Bent Larsen, Alexander Beliavsky, Ljubomir Ljubojevic, Jan Timman, Nigel Short, and Bachar Kouatly—gave a simultaneous exhibition against the public.
