384 pages. Titlepage and index, VI. With many diagrams. Descriptive notation. L/N 6399; Betts 7–32.

Famous magazine founded by Wilhelm Steinitz. The editor was one of the most successful chess players of his time, considered World Chess Champion from 1866 and the first official World Chess Champion from 1886 to 1894. He edited this magazine until its discontinuation. The journal contains articles on various chess topics, news, games, endgames, and problems. Condition: Interior with water damage, somewhat browned, in some places more heavily, a few stains, and some handwritten notes.

Condition: Brown half-leather binding with gilt title on spine. Spine is rubbed. With famous collector Lothar Schmid's bookplate. First and second fly leaf have moist damages. Titlepage and index is slightly affected by moist (see scan). Other pages are fine with rare handwritten notes.
