Description

Casopis ceskych sachistu 1916. Praha, Fr. Dedrle, V. Kautsky, L. Prokes, K. Traxler. Monthly. In Czech. Title page, index, 176 pages. Issues 1-12 (11/12 is a double issue). Volume 10. All covers are bound in. LN 5985. Soukup 4. Mokry 237. Di Felice 443.

This volume, published during World War I, is, together with the 1938 volume, the rarest volume of the magazine. It was probably published in a smaller print run.

Casopis ceskych sachistu (The Magazine of Czech Chess Players) was founded in 1906 and remains the main Czech chess journal. Throughout its history, its title changed mainly for political reasons: Casopis ceskych sachistu (1906-1919), Casopis ceskoslovenskych sachistu (1920-1926), Ceskoslovensky sach (1927-1938; 1946-present), and Sach (1939-1945).

Condition - Good: Elegant half-cloth binding with gilt lettering on the spine. Pages 5-12 are a few millimeters shorter at the bottom. Most of the problem diagrams have erasable notes and markings in ordinary pencil. There is only one small note in the ballpoint pen on pages 117, 118 and 137. Two underlinings in colored pencil on pages 69 and 72. Occasional slight soiling. A small tear at the bottom of the leaf comprising pages 125-126. Most of the covers are in very good condition; only the rear cover of the final issue has been repaired with tape on the inside.
